The reddish with big eyes group is comprised of species in the families Priacanthidae (bigeyes) and Holocentridae (solderfishes and squirrelfishes). While the bigeyes are more closely related to groupers and hawkfishes than they are to soliderfishes and squirrelfishes, members of these two families both exhibit a reddish coloration and large eyes.
